I can only speak for Access and Microsoft SQL2K and i choose Microsoft SQL. I used both and SQL is faster and more stable

I have voted for Access because it works fine on it, but mysql is faster and more stabe, but not all features work properly. |

I've used two different platform: access and SQL server, anyway I prefer SQL server because according to me is more stable and faster. |

I also have tried out 2 plattforms: Access and MSSQL2000. IMHO the MSSQL Server 2000 brings a lot more stability and speed, especially if you have "heavy traffic and many users". If you have just a small community, access might be the better choice.
I have not tried out MSSQL2005 yet. Has someone expieriences with the new Server? |

Hi Guys,
I agree with this only ours has gone from ACCESS to MYSQL, and the difference is staggering! MYSQL is much faster and hopefully will now be more stable - thanks to Flavio.
I would never use access again!

I voted for MySql because he is faster and has better respond time. But have to admit that had problem with backup MySql 5.0 and central European collation. My suggestion: if your forum is not English native, test backup before you go out with live forum.

I prefer MySQL it works great with many users on our server at once and it's free. MSSQL is good too but expensive. Access may work fine if your site gets hardly any traffic, but it runs horridly when many users are connected to the database at once. I am quite surprised to see so many votes for it. |
